USA De Minimis Rule Changes
Due to a new executive order from the President of the United States of America all items sent to the USA will now need to have customs charges paid in advance of delivery due to the removal of the old $800 De Minimis threshold. Whilst our courier services remain broadly unaffected the Royal Mail has decided to take payment for any customs charges upfront at the point where we purchase the postage from them. As it's not possible for us to revise the postal charge calculation system for the website entirely around a single countries customs procedures, particularly when there is a reasonable probability of them changing again at very short notice, regrettably postage to the USA will no longer be a simple procedure. As such we are, with immediate effect, removing all the airmail options for customers who wish to have deliveries made to the USA. This will also affect Parcelforce deliveries to the USA, which are also processed by the Royal Mail and delivered by the USPS.
Whilst we could introduce a blanket rule that we won't offer Airmail or Parcelforce deliveries to the USA anymore we'd prefer to keep the option open, but there will be more steps involved than you may be used to. Essentially if you don't mind paying a premium for courier delivery (Fedex, UPS, DHL etc.) then you'll be able to use the checkout as normal. However if you'd prefer the Airmail option where possible please use the following method:
1: Select the items you wish to order and add them to your basket as normal.
2: At the checkout page rather than choosing "Paypal" or "Worldpay" please select the "Purchase Order" option.
3: You will need to provide a "purchase order number" in the box provided, please either enter "Airmail" or "Parcelforce" in his box. With this option selected please then use the "Place Order" button. This will create an order as normal, but without an actual payment being taken.
4: We can then process the order as normal and calculate the additional customs costs and then email through a full quote including these costs. Once we receive confirmation that you'd like to go ahead we can supply a link to pay online by card.
